Alexis Krasilovsky

is a multifaceted filmmaker known for her work as a writer, director, and producer. Her notable project, the global feature documentary “Women Behind the Camera”, received several awards, including four for “Best Documentary.”

Based on her book of the same title, the film explores the history and contributions of camerawomen worldwide. Krasilovsky has also authored other books, including “Shooting Women: Behind the Camera, Around the World,” co-written with Harriet Margolis and Julia Stein. Her diverse filmography includes works like “Let Them Eat Cake,” “What Memphis Needs,” “Exile,” “Blood,” and “End of the Art World,” which have been showcased internationally in museums and festivals. Krasilovsky’s academic background includes studying under film historian Jay Leyda at Yale University and earning an MFA in Film/Video from California Institute of the Arts. Currently, she serves as a Professor of Screenwriting and Media Theory & Criticism at California State University, Northridge.
