Austrian Cinematographer, Wolf Zottl: A Maine Media College MFA Graduate Profile
It has been seven years since I completed my degree in Rockport. My thoughts are often back at school with my friends, peers, and mentors. I miss them. Never before had I experienced such a creative environment. While enrolled in the program, I developed my artistry, and with the help of my teachers and peers, embarked on the path I follow to this day.
After graduating, I returned to Austria and founded CINEWOLF Media Productions, a full-service media production company focusing on television productions, image films, and new media.
I also established myself as a technical media consultant in the production of large-scale events. One of these, the 2004 Emirates Airlines Inaugural Celebration in the Vienna Hofburg, was nominated for the Austrian Event Award (2004). Another project on which I collaborated in media design for the Vienna Mozart-House, a tourist landmark in Vienna, received the Austrian State Prize for Multimedia and E-Business in 2006.
The film I shot over the last five years, a portrait of a poet, received the state prize for adult-entertainment. Additionally, I was voted on the board of the Austrian Association of Cinematographers (AAC) and have served as its Vice President since 2009.
I complement my professional work as a cinematographer and media-design consultant with work in the field of education. For the past five years, I have been teaching at several schools. I am on the faculty of the Austrian Film College. I also taught HD-Lighting to the lighting engineers and lighting designers of the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation.
